Fitting Instructions for our Aeroscreens

There are no hard and fast rules for fitting these screens as it will vary slightly from car to car, depending on the type of Westfield bodywork you have, and where the holes for the windscreen wipers have been cut. However these are some guidelines, which should help you to get a good fit.

First off, I’d advise you to cover the scuttle top in masking tape. This will aid you in marking the screen position, reduce the chance of scratches, and will also help stop the drill skidding when you start drilling holes.

The screen is designed to fit approximately 80mm back from the front edge of the scuttle panel. It has a mounting flange along the lower edge through which 2 fixings will be required.

Spend some time positioning the screen so that it is square on the scuttle panel, and so that the flange covers the old wiper holes (if applicable). Once you’re happy, mark this position on the masking tape.

2 rivnuts in the screen flange is one way of fixing the screen, but this depends a lot on whether your rivnut tool will work in the confined space. 2 small (M4 or similar) bolts in fore/aft slots work equally well. If you cut slots in either the screen flange or the scuttle, it will allow you to position the screen more easily by sliding it forwards/backwards a little. Please use penny washers under the bolt heads, this will help spread the load and stop the fibreglass cracking.

If you are using the rubber beading along the front edge it will be held in place when the screen is bolted down so it doesn't need to be glued onto the screen (although you can if you wish). If you are intending to SVA your car with the screen in place then you will need to put the beading along the rear edge of the screen to pass the radius checks. Or better yet leave the screen off until after the test!

While the 2 fixings through the flange will hold the screen to the scuttle nicely it is advisable to also fit one bolt through each bottom corner of the screen. These bolts will help keep the screen rigid at higher speeds. If your mirror has a suitable fixing method, it can be possible to use the mirror fixings to sandwich the corners of the screen.  Alternatively a couple of small (again M4 would be fine) dome headed allen bolts look best.
